2012 Candidate Forum … in 2011
The 2012 DFL District 8 Congressional Candidate Forum coordinated and moderated by Minnesota Public Radio has ended, but the full transcript remains. You can read it at perfectduluthday.com/candidate-forum.
The candidates are Jeff Anderson, Tarryl Clark, Daniel Fanning and
Rick Nolan.
All of the candidates’ portraits show them tilting to the right. Just sayin’…
Is it OK for me to take this opportunity to request that everyone living the 1st bypass voting for either Fedora or Julsrud and write in “Daniel J. Golden”?

If you’re looking for evidence that sulfide mining is a hot-button issue, these poll results are interesting.

Lol! Stumped.
All I want to know is who is the most far-left candidate, and they get my vote. Who is least likely to fold under the pressure of big-business? Who is most likely to stand up for alternative infrastructure improvements like the NLX and bike/bed improvements?

The most unfortunate case of omitting a word:

Since this came in the context of a question that came up on PDD, and since Clark’s answer was mistakenly removed and added in later, out of order, I’ll post the whole thing here.
It’s pretty fun watching the poll that asks which candidate you support fluctuate with each answer. Also, Tarryl Clark seems to be having a hard time keeping up with the questions. For me, the best line so far goes to Rick Nola, with, “No one I know other than Michelle Bachmann has a direct line to the Lord.”
The Duluth candidates fared pretty well in that poll. Cravaack did poorly, but since it’s a poll of people following a DFL candidate forum that’s to be expected.

I thought Jeff Anderson did really well. His responses were quick, often the first one in with an answer. Plus, they weren’t longwinded; they got right to the point without much fluff. I like to see that.
This is pretty interesting, Michael Olson from Minnesota Public Radio patched together the debate with what was happening on twitter at the same time. And by interesting I mean “interesting to Northern MN twitter/political nerds.” All 5 of us.
Very cool, thanks for posting that, wildgoose. This was a pretty unique format. Hopefully they do a few more like this to complement the in-person forums.
