Point is, can local hip hop evolve to not rely on 10 y/o dis-based cliche’s like just f’ing listing parts of the town with trite and predictable rhyming and the degradation of women.

Maybe we should break down which lyrics are so misogynistic. I think we owe Good Knight some latitude on the part at the end about Piedmont girls being “stuck up” and “all them rich bitches from Marshall.” I think there’s a class hierarchy statement being made more than an anti-woman statement, and it seems to be done in a tongue-in-cheek way to me. I got a good laugh out of it.
I’m not really sure what to make of the other part of the song that might be deemed misogynistic, and I can’t make out all the lyrics, but here’s my best shot at it:

@Lundgren – Calling women “Bitches” is misogyny. It’s a tired “artistic” cliche that degrades women and reinforces a culture of disrespect and worse. Why do you feel the need to try and denigrate my observations? Sure, I can be acerbic and anonymously make sweeping negative generalizations that hurt the feelings of Duluth’s “precious” artistic community but that’s what the internet is for, right? Frankly, Good Knight should take a lesson from Brother Ali and others who use the medium to uplift and improve. Duluth’s artists need constant encouragement AND direct, harsh if need be, critique or else we’ll end up being parochial, trite and worse mamby pamby.

One of his songs is called “Bitchslap!” “I bitch slap rappers so hard I give them whiplash.” He also refers to himself as a “son of a bitch” on a few records, too ETC. So your argument there is flawed there LOL. I’m definitely influenced by the Brother though, he’s a dope emcee coming out of Minnesota. I’m not being disrespectful. On this track, I was talking bout social status of “rich bitches.” Those bitches could be men, they could be women LOL. I love women and girls, but not bitches. I’d say there’s a difference, in my opinion, but that’s me. I mean no disrespect to you, but you gotta do some research on my music before you judge it as a whole.
