North Shore prime

If you can find a place to park other than the side of Highway 61, this would would be an ideal weekend to explore North Shore state parks without all the crowds. Boldly enter at the gates or use the trails (SHT) running into them. And the lupines up the shore are stunning right now.

Lupines!! I miss those fields and fields of them. One of the loveliest things about Minnesota (and the white birch trees)

the SHT spur trail @ mile 49 between gooseberry and split rock (aka, the split rock river loop) gives easy access to both parks. split rock is closer, however…but both trails are pretty easy going terrain wise.

Lots of people parked on Hwy. 61 traipsing into Gooseberry today.
