Call to Duluth Artists! Ideas!

NHS is looking to pay some artists up to $750 for each design if they’re selected.  We’re looking to get some bike racks, public benches and trash cans.  All of these will be placed along Fourth Street between Mesaba Avenue and Seventh Avenue East.  More information can be found by clicking here.  Where would you like to see a bike rack, bench or trash can in this area?  I can think of a few…

There will be recycling containers with the trash cans, won’t there?

I’d like to say that we will, we’re hoping that we can get some from the City.

Last visit to Mpls., I noticed many art covered trash bins, electric/phone boxes, and more. It looked really cool. It was so nice to see the plain everyday items covered in art along our paths. I can only imagine how awesome these new additions by our artists will look here.

I really think this program should extend all over Duluth, and not just in this small area.

Face it, there is a lot of bland/ugly in Duluth that could use beautification by our artists (young, old, upcoming), both large and small areas.

@ ruby, Minneapolis was one of our example cities, along with a neighborhood in Pittsburgh, PA. As much as we do want to extend this throughout the entire city, our grants were funded solely for the Hillside. After this process, I’d like to extend it throughout, but again, grant funding is for the Hillside.

    Thanks for your thoughts!
