Request!

So, I’m currently an 11th grade student at Harbor City International School downtown, but I’ll be spending my senior year somewhere in Brazil. When I get there, I need to give a presentation on my home town, and I’m looking for some photos of Duluth that exceed my photography skills, and some advice on what to include in my presentation. Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

I recommend you go to the Depot library and ask a librarian. There are several good books and picture books. Otherwise there is a historical society that may be helpful in your pursuit.

There are many many talented photogs in the Twin ports region. Some of these individuals post to a local group on Flickr entitled “Duluth Photographers Guild.”

The following link searches the groups pool of photos that have been tagged with the word “Duluth”.

Although your specific use would likely not require the permission of the photographer, as it would fall under fair use provisions, it also wouldn’t hurt. I am certain that the photographer would be pleased to hear of your project.

    Enjoy your year abroad!!

Does the Depot have a library? I think Mevdev is referring to the Duluth Public Library, which is right next to the Depot.

For your presentation, bring some snow in a jar.

Doh, yes, the library by the Depot. It is right by HCIS.

    Thanks Dubz…

Many of the same photogs that post to the Duluth Photographers Guild also contribute to the Duluth Homegrown Music Fest group.

The same right to use would also apply.

Hey, HCIS alumni here. There is a cool website called http://www.dailyduluthphoto.com that was on PDD a few weeks ago. It has a new picture of Duluth every day, and old submissions too.

I live in Guam now, and check it regularly to get a little taste of home.

Jayme Bennett has some great shots on the Google Twin Ports facebook site. Can’t hurt to ask her. (And while you’re there sign up to nominate Duluth and get all your friends to join too)

    Hi Henry,

I have a photo blog named Duluth Daily Photo which I started in 2008. I document Duluth and also include little tidbits about the history or geography with links for people who are curious for more information. I am slowly moving it over to http://www.DuluthDailyPhoto.com. The orginal one with more posts is http://www.DuluthDailyPhoto.vox.com
