Lake Superior & Mississippi Railroad: Tracking the Original Line from Thomson to New Duluth, Part 1
This video from Minnesota Bricks is part of a series exploring the original route of the Lake Superior & Mississippi Railroad along the St. Louis River. The series covers the section from the Town of Thomson to Commonwealth Avenue in New Duluth.
Part one begins at the 1906 railroad truss bridge over the St. Louis River, which is presently part of the Willard Munger State Trail. It concludes in a wooded area east of the Jay Cooke State Park ranger station.
Minnesota Bricks is devoted to preserving information, pictures and maps pertaining to Minnesota history and brickyards from the late 1800s and early 1900s.
