R.I.P. Lumpy G

AKA Chris Marshall.

I have just heard the news of his passing and I have no information about it. Lumpy was a beloved OG Duluth scenester and PDD personage. The top photo is from a chance meeting at Pizza Lucé; during our conversation he used the phrase “post-scarcity anarcho-syndicalist culture.” I think he was describing the Iain M. Banks novel Consider Phlebas, which he loaned me. The second pic is from Homegrown a few years ago (photo credit: I forget). The music had stopped at the end of the night and people poured into the street — a magic moment, the real party was just beginning. The third pic is from the 2004 era of the Gonzo Science musical at the Norshor, for which Lumpy (and Lefty, at left) worked on graphics (photo: Jill Hall).

You will be missed.
