Comedian and sitcom actor Tim Allen referenced Duluth in a scene on the ABC-TV sitcom Last Man Standing in 2015. The scene appears in season 4, episode 19, titled “Summer Internship.”

Allen, in the role of Mike Baxter, asks his coworkers at an outdoor sporting goods store if they know anyone in the fashion industry. Héctor Elizondo, in the role of Ed Alzate, mentions he has a buddy in Fort Wayne who manufactures bomber-style winter hats. “That’s not cutting-edge fashion,” Allen points out. “You’re not gonna see that on a runway unless you’re bringing in planes through a snowstorm in Duluth.”
