This week’s quiz looks ahead to new things coming (or returning) to the Duluth area in 2022. As with everything these days, all future events and shenanigans are subject to change; quiz on to test your knowledge of things to get cautiously excited about!

#1 This parody musician stops at the DECC on July 11 as part of his “Unfortunate Return of the Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity Tour.”

#2 Glensheen: The Musical will have its Duluth premiere at this theater.

The musical will run June 3-12; more information is available on the Duluth Playhouse website.

#3 The Festival of Sail will take place at this location in 2022 because of construction to the seawall behind the DECC.

#4 The Black Water Lounge reopened this month. How long was it closed?

The Black Water Lounge closed on Jan. 1, 2019 for renovation and in anticipation of Superior Street reconstruction.

#5 The owner of this local food truck is planning a permanent establishment at 2401 W. Superior St.

#6 UMD alums will compete for Team U.S.A in which sports in the 2022 Winter Olympics?

As of Jan. 15, John Landsteiner (Men’s Curling), John Shuster (Men’s Curling), Maddie Rooney (Women’s Hockey), and Noah Cates (Men’s Hockey) had been named as competitors for Team U.S.A. Kare 11 has a list of Minnesotans competing in the 2022 Olympics here.

#7 Ocantis, this cruise company’s first expedition ship, is scheduled to make its Duluth debut in 2022.

#8 Homegrown Music Festival kicked off a return to in-person music with this January event in West Duluth.

Twelve acts played at four locations on Jan. 14.

#9 This candy store will be sponsoring hot air balloon rides during the Lake Superior Ice Festival.
