Last Week Tonight’s Masterpiece Gallery Tour coming to Judy Garland Museum in Grand Rapids

A collection of three paintings — one dubbed as “rat erotica” — is beginning its five-city tour about 65 miles northwest of Duluth. John Oliver, host of the HBO cable television show Last Week Tonight, explains in the video above that the works will be on display at the Judy Garland Museum in Grand Rapids from Sept. 7 to 28.

The three paintings is the collection are:

  • A painting of talk-show host Wendy Williams about to eat a lamb chop
  • A still-life of ties painted by Judy Kudlow, wife of Fox Business Network host Larry Kudlow, a former economic advisor to Donald Trump
  • “Stay Up Late,” a painting by Pennsylvania artist Brian Swords of two anthropomorphized rats engaged in an act that inspired Oliver to proclaim the piece to be “high-quality rat erotica.”

Last Week Tonight’s Masterpiece Gallery Tour continues through January, with each host museum and a local food bank receiving a $10,000 donation from the show. The full tour schedule is at lwtgallery.com.
