Very interesting chapter of Twin Ports' history. Thanks for that. Just wondering ... there's a fascinating series of films made by the Finnish state in the 1940s chronicling the lives and cultural diffusion of Finnish immigrants to North America. One segment covers Minnesota, Wisconsin and the UP of Michigan with a focus on the Twin Ports. Duluth had a Finnish Consulate and many Finnish-Americans worked at the Co-op in Superior in a building that resembles one of those featured in this post. I hope these buildings can be preserved and refurbished/re-purposed.
