Erik Koskinen – “Nothing Without You”

Michigan native Erik Koskinen has called Minneapolis home for the past eight years, but he has a long-running relationship with Duluth, having performed here frequently for nearly 20 years. He returns March 5 for a concert at Sacred Heart Music Center. The video above was shot live at the Turf Club in St. Paul on Dec. 15.

Do churches creep the fuck out of anyone else? My mom pulled me out of church when I was three which apparently wasn't enough to undo their psychological damage on my past lives. Problem is the Heart doesn't have that piquant formaldehyde odor of say the Karpeles to keep one from dozing off. I feel like churches are where to play when you want to completely loose your audience under the age of 65, if refusing to play the bad-ass riffs you're capable of isn't already working. Too bad the Herring makes its foray into hosting faux R&B, falsetto slinging men-children that night, but I guess everybody's got to sell out at some point.

But if the Sacred Heart built a skateboard ramp inside then I would love it.
