Natural Discoveries: A Portrait of Travis Melin

Nature photographer Travis Melin died on Wednesday, May 6, after failing to recover from an April 21 heart attack. He was a 1991 graduate of Hermantown High School, a former resident of Washington Studios Artist Cooperative and lived his final years in Ely. The documentary above was produced by Mike Jandl in 2013.

    I received a copy of one of his prints a couple years ago as a present. (After seeing a note (here on PDD) about his show at the DPI and dropping some key hints.) Stellar photos. Definitely sad to see talent pass at such a young age.

    I have one of his photos on my kitchen wall. I never spoke to Travis, but his photo speaks to me. Rest in peace Travis, and thank you Mike for posting the documentary.
