What is Toasty’s on Ninth Street?

Formerly Chet’s (corner store), formally 8th Street Video on 9th (Steve’s), formally 8th Street Video on 9th (mainstream), formally Mean Beans Espresso & Creams is now looking to be something called Toasty’s. Does anyone know what this new venture will reveal itself to be? Will it be a toast joint? It’s a thing I guess.

According to the Duluth City Council resolution approving its liquor license, Toasty's aspires to be "a small restaurant/bar with a focus on serving sandwiches and providing organic menu options." (The document also indicates that the plan as of November 2013 was "to open by the middle of December," presumably December 2013.)

Here's a picture of the place as it was recently repainted and has a new sign up.

Glad someone caught this - meant to send it in on Saturday. Nice that the building is going to be used/open again. Hope it works out this time.

Couldn't agree more ruby2sday. I love seeing places like this stay as businesses. FYI, from what I've been told, the 9th Street Laundry place a few blocks over is going to reopen as a pet grooming place if I'm not mistaken. I still remember when that place was an old-school electronics repair place. Anyone remember the name of it?

Is this the same Thomas Hagen that is the operations manager at Just Take Action / Fitger's? Hopefully this venture goes better than the last few that occupied the building. I remember going there when it was 8th Street Video and a girl ordered a milkshake. The worker's deadpan reply was, "dude that takes like 15 minutes," and then he made her settle for ice cream instead. Gotta love that service.

Wow! I thought for sure that they were painting it to turn it back into a home. I really hope they succeed. Sounds like a great restaurant.

Not much has changed at this business over the past two months but I noticed yesterday that the curtains are gone and you can see inside. It looks really nice in there. Curious when they will officially open.

Toasty's is open!

I checked out their menu while walking by their front window. They have a lot of sandwich options and they are served on 3rd Street Bakery bread. Gluten free options and vegan cheese are available. All of them sound good, some are very creative.

I wish they would start a FB page or a website so viewing the menu & details would be easier.

I saw the WDIO news piece about it, drove by the other day, seemed like business was good.
