Floor restoration recommendations

The carpet has got to go. Under the carpet is ugly linoleum. Under the linoleum is beautiful hardwood. Any recommendations for floor pros?

Newberg Flooring was used by a friend and she raved about them.

They are obviously experts, but make sure you know what you’re looking at because when we purchased our house in November we had the same thing in a bedroom. (Nasty carpet, and even uglier 9×9 linoleum underneath (heavy as hell and wear a mask if that’s what it is, as it contains asbestos) and then what appeared to be hardwood.) Turns out it was a sub-floor.

    Mer, sad.

I had good luck with Riverside Flooring. They’re located at 1814 W Superior St in the friendly West End (Lincoln Park). They sanded, repaired and refinished the wood flooring in our 1911 vintage house a few years ago. The floors still look great.

Ditto to the Newberg Flooring recommendation. They did our entire house that we bought as a forclosure with water damage. Our 90 year old maple floors look like new and they were very affordable.

We used Twin Ports Flooring (Brian Erickson) to do our whole first floor two years ago. He did a fabulous job. I still love it every day.

Mike Sweeny of Sweeny’s Hardwood Floors. The guy is fantastic. He has years of experience.
