Summer bicycle and pedestrian count

On July 25, Duluth’s bicyclists and pedestrians in the Duluth Hillside area will be counted. The Healthy Duluth Area Coalition and Duluth-Superior Metropolitan Interstate Council are collaborating on the effort. From 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., volunteers will be out counting and surveying pedestrians and bikers at five locations. Volunteers are still needed, and people can sign up through the registration survey.

The count is a smaller and more concentrated pilot project as the groups gear up for Duluth’s part in the statewide count in September. This count is also an important tool in determining future transportation improvements in the Hillside neighborhood. If you would like to be involved in this or other community improvement efforts, contact Lisa Luokkala with HDAC at lisa @ healthyduluth.org or (218)722-4745 x152.

HDAC is committed to changing the policies, systems and environments of our city to encourage active living and affect how residents access healthy foods. We bring together the people who can facilitate the greatest change, who advocate for wellness, and who strive for healthy equity. We are here to help everyone be well by supporting active living and healthy eating, and by working to the healthy choice the default choice.
