Lower Chester Picnic Potluck and Play Day

The Lower Chester Picnic Potluck and Play Day will be held on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2 p.m., at Lower Chester, 15th Ave. E. & Fifth St.

Neighbors of Lower Chester Park is a new nonprofit with a goal to raise funds through rummage, plant and vegetable sales, as well as a spaghetti dinner fundraiser Oct. 8 at Chester Park United Methodist Church, 818 N. 18th Av.E.

We have raised about 1/3 of the money needed to obtain insurance.  We have to present to the city our completed 501c3, our insurance and a website by August 18 or before.  The city will make a decision on August 29 if we will be given the lease to the park.

We would like anyone interested in having a safe and healthy environment, for children such as a playground and rinks to come join our annual fun day and give us your suggestions on how we can all improve this park.

We will have entertainment, a “Beauty Shop” for children, great face painting, games for all ages through college plus and food. Activities will begin at 2 p.m. We would like everyone to have “their” potluck item here by 3 p.m. as we will start serving by 4 p.m.

We are in need of adults and college age to lead games and any additional offers of entertainment.

We will be posting some fliers but would like to rely on the more speedy method of e-mails. We’d like interested people to give us their phone numbers and e-mail addresses so that we can give  more detailed plans for the day as well as all forthcoming events. We haven’t detailed all our events yet.

Anyone who would like to help or have suggestions please contact Mabel at 724-7667 or e-mail me at mabelgalvin @ charter.net.

When I originally posted the item on the Lower Chester Picnic/Potluck and Play Day I forgot to state that it will be held Saturday, Sept. 10, 2 p.m., at Lower Chester, 15th Ave. E. & Fifth St.
