Your Sunday morning book review

Who amongst us does not enjoy sitting around on a Sunday morning, reading the New York Times and leisurely paging through the Book Review section?

In case you haven’t picked up your copy of the Times at Mount Royal yet, here’s a book review you can read to keep your morning on track. It’s of Safe from the Sea, by Peter Geye, which just won the North East Minnesota Book Award.

SPOILER ALERT: The “Freighter” bar is actually the Anchor. And the topless bar “Tallahassee” is actually the Saratoga. Oh, and the old man dies.

A quick look in a local bookstore shows that you can support the region the book is set in, too! If you really need to download something, a quick look at Indiebound.org can steer you to many independent stores that have downloading as an option, such as Common Good Books which has it as a Google ebook. (I'm uncertain whether Bookstore at Fitger's has ebook commerce, but I am rather certain it has the book).

As much as Amazon tries to destroy its competition, there are still local and regional businesses that actually contribute to our economy.

Does anybody circuit bend in Duluth?

I just moved back here.  I'm looking to learn from someone who knows. Also, any 8-bit musicians around here?
