Summer Ski Suggestions

I’ve got some business travel set up for Northern Colorado and Utah in late June.  Any suggestions for a resort which may still be running lifts?  Ideally, I’d like to find something open during the week of 20 June.  Arapahoe Basin is open until the 19ththat’s the latest I’ve been able to find.  Also – suggestions on renting gear verses checking or shipping?  Seems that for a two day junket – one is better off just renting from the shop.

Lifts? Get some skins and go hiking!

Arapaho Basin is a beautiful spot located just outside of Keystone.

Put one foot in front of the other and hike Berthoud Pass. Run down to the the end of the snow and hitchhike back up the pass.

A Basin is really the only ski spot that stays open late. When I guided in the front range, it was the only place that let us get any turns in on a lift through May.

Real summer skiing won’t be found at a resort unless you hit Timberline on Hood in Oregon. Grab some hiking gear and find your own snow for some t-shirt-and-shorts corn skiing action.
