Can’t make TEDxUMD?  Please join the UMD community for any of the other events celebrating Dr. Black’s inauguration as our ninth chancellor.  See the full schedule of inauguration events here.

Sponsored by Kirby Student Center and the Inauguration Committee.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx.

TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxUMD, where x=independently organized TED event. At our TEDxUMD event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.

The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

TED = awesome, too. In case anyone's wondering about that. I highly recommend spending time watching the TEDTalks already online.

TED online is pretty damn great. I went to the first TED Duluth event and it was also great. Unfortunately it didn't have a big turnout which is sad since there was some great speakers. I hope more people come out for this one. It generates discussion about the community and you get to hear from interesting people who know what they're talking about. And I'm not just plugging it because one of my friends is speaking and he is definitely worth listening to.
