Whirligigs Preschool Program at Great Lakes Aquarium — New Winter Session!

Back by popular demand, the Whirligigs Preschool Program will have a new winter session!  Enroll your child in the exciting Whirligigs Preschool Program at Great Lakes Aquarium. Sponsored in part by the MinnAqua DNR Program, this is a 1.5 hour drop-off program for children ages 3-5.

Dates and topics are as follows:

January 4/5: Hibernating Critters – As the weather gets cooler, our wild friends prepare for the cold months.  Learn how our local critters survive the winter!

January 11/12: Tracking Detectives – Join us in “Great Lakes Aquarium Tracking Detective School” as we learn how to compare and contrast animal tracks.

January 18/19: Pictures in the Sky – Have you ever stared up at a starry night sky and saw pictures and shapes?  Long ago, people named these pictures and told stories of how they appeared in the sky.  Design a planetarium to take home, and learn more about those stars!

January 25/26: Snowflake Super Sleuth – Explore one of nature’s most beautiful creations!  Try your hand at catching a snowflake, and investigate how it formed.

February 1/2: Beneath the Snow – Learn which animals survive beneath your boots and above the snow – search for signs of their homes in the snow!

February 8/9: A Trees Life in Winter – What happens to a tree throughout its lifetime?  How does it survive the cold months?  Investigate a tree’s rings, and listen to its story as we take a closer look at trees and learn how they adapt and change through the seasons.

Price: $5/members per session, $7.50/non-members per session

Package Rate: Register your child for all 6 classes and receive a discount!  $25/child-member and $40/child non-member

Classes are filling up quickly — only a few spots are left! Contact Lindsay for registration information: lbrandt @ glaquarium.org or 218-740-2027.
