When: Iron pour seminar and artists pour – August 14-22
Public pour – Sept. 11

Where: The iron pour seminar will be located at a beautiful rural site about 15 miles southeast of Duluth.  The public pour will be held in Duluth.

Who: The North Shore Iron Pour is sponsored by Common Language, a nonprofit artists organization based in Duluth.  The NSIP is organized by Jeffrey Kalstrom and David Everett.  The iron pour seminar is hosted by Ben Effinger and Suzi Ludwig.

Eligibility:  The pour is open to all artists interested in learning how to cast iron or expanding his or her knowledge of cast iron as an artistic medium.  There will be evening slide talks with all artists invited to show their work. The capacity of the site is limited therefore the number of participants is limited.  Preference will be given to previous attendants, and good cooks.

How to apply:  To apply send a short personal resume and three images of previous work to Jeff Kalstrom at [email protected] or call 218-310-8411. (If you have previously attended the NSIP you do not need send images or a resume.)

Expenses:  $150, which includes camping fees, mold making supplies, and casting fees.  Fees include 100 lbs. of iron and 600 lbs of resin sand. This fee includes camping, sage instruction, tool use, and bathing in Lake Superior … it does not include food.  We will take turns cooking the evening meals in teams.

Facilities:  Site conditions are absolutely beautiful.  There will be work, camping, and cooking facilities available to all participants. Lake Superior is conveniently located just 5 miles away for your bathing and recreational needs.
