Animals left in cars

Now that it quit raining and we have sun and heat, please help spread the word about dogs in cars. Twice already I’ve seen dogs locked in cars; one with windows barely cracked and another closed tightly. Next time, I’m calling the cops.

And while I’m on the animal rant, what is it with dogs in the backs of pick ups but not in a kennel? It outta be illegal!

Why didn’t you call the cops this time?

Call the cops on their asses! There’s no reason to leave a dog in a hot car as the weather heats up!

Sometimes I leave my dog in my car when it’s hot. But I have autostart and I leave it running with the air conditioner on. Don’t be too quick to call the cops.

Two years ago I saw a dog riding on the back of a motorcycle (freestanding) going up Lake Ave, I was simultaneously highly amused and a bit horrified. Horrimused?

It already is illegal to have a dog in the back of a truck without having it in a kennel.

Meanwhile back on the hillside I witness child neglect every time I look out my window, my neighbors are mostly
government financed drug dealers and I can not afford a
car to leave my dog in.

    Thanks for posting Piglet.

I have this guilty feeling because I was at Super One in Lakeside on Friday and saw a lab-looking dog sucking fresh air with his muzzle sticking out a crack of a window.

It bothered me all weekend. Next time, I will not necessarily call the cops but ask the store to request that the owner report to their car.
The mob will ensue and justice will be served.

I left a dog in the car on a hot day for a couple of minutes once, for what seemed to me like good reasons. Consequently I’m not one to leap straight for the torches and pitchforks.

I left my dog in the car the other day and it changed all the preset channels on my radio to dog-related radio, which, of course, is broadcast at frequencies that I can’t hear. So, I’ve learned my lesson.

Allow me to chime in two months later to say:

    1) Hatcher, that’s funny.

    2) Here’s an interesting story from the Star News out of Elk River:

Woman unlocks door to save dog from heat

Turns out, it’s illegal to unlock someone’s car door, even to get a dog out.
