April 17 Waves & Whiskers Event at GLA

Join us next Saturday, April 17, for a great fund-raising event at the Duluth Great Lakes Aquarium!

The Wildcat Sanctuary in Sandstone and the Great Lakes Aquarium in Duluth partner together for a wine and beer tasting gala to benefit the Wildcat Sanctuary. “Waves and Whiskers” is scheduled for April 17 from 8-11pm. The event will showcase local and statewide breweries and wineries within a “safari” theme setting.

The Great Lakes Aquarium is hosting the event. Guests will be greeted and given a “passport” for their safari journey through the many tasting stations. Along the safari path will be stories, photos and videos detailing the TWS residents and their lives before and after the sanctuary, as well as information on their species, natural habitat and volunteer opportunities. A bazaar will also be available where guests can purchase one-of-a-kind sanctuary items.

Tickets are available on-line at wildcatsanctuary.org or by calling (320) 245-6871. Tickets are $30 per person in advance, $40 per person at the door. Tickets give entrance to the event, wine and beer tasting, appetizers, dessert, coffee and a souvenir glass.

The Wildcat Sanctuary (TWS) is a 501(c) 3 non-profit, no-kill rescue facility, located in Sandstone. TWS provides for the humane rescue and sheltering of unwanted, mistreated, and neglected privately owned wildcats that pose a risk to public safety. TWS is committed to public education about the captive wildlife crisis; offering veterinarian training opportunities; and supporting legislative solutions to the public safety issues created by private ownership of wild animals. Funds raised from this event will support the continuing mission of TWS to provide compassionate care for each of their residents, as well as sustaining on-going education for local schools and communities.
