I never did bicycle over that bridge. I should have. Perhaps I will come back someday and do that.

Used to suck having to carry a fully loaded bike over that damn thing in the middle of winter.

Imagine it probably STILL does suck carrying a fully loaded bike over that damn thing in the middle of Winter. Perhaps I'll give it a go this February & post the results here. btw -- what actually consists of a fully loaded bike?

Full loaded = 3 600+ page textbooks, notebooks, folders, climbing gear, lunch and snacks, change of clothes, water. Probably between 50 and 60 pounds.

I tried to ride every day, but after a couple snowfalls and no snow removal, it wasn't worth the extra 45 min. to an hour to get across, or trip out to Oliver. Calls to MN & WI DOT didn't seem help at all either.

This reminds me of biking across to see movies at the Mariner Mall when I was in my early teens. Also, later in my 20s, I used to make Sunday beer runs on my bike. It's fun to stop on the way back and crack one at the mid-point while looking out over the St. Louis Bay.
