In this beginner-friendly foraging class students learn the foundational skills needed to safely identify common edible plants and mushrooms in their local environment. Through hands-on exploration, students discover how to observe key features, use field guides and understand seasonal clues. Students are asked to bring a basket or bag, a water bottle, sun protection, tick protection, sturdy shoes and to dress for the weather.

Duluth Folk School presents this three-hour Forest Bathing walk, offering the opportunity to "slow down and carefully observe our senses." The organizers suggest "we may begin to notice incredible things about ourselves and the more-than-human world around us. In escaping the rapid pace of our everyday routines we may find unparalleled wonder in the moment and relax into the beauty all around us." The group will meet at the Lester Park gazebo. The 26th annual Lester River Rendezvous celebrates the lifestyles and folkways of the Voyageurs in Minnesota. The event features cannons, muskets, hatchets, food and craft vendors, a fun zone for children, musical acts and reenactors depicting features of life during early Minnesota and Wisconsin history in the Voyageur Village. The Voyageurs will also be present to talk with families about life in the area during the 18th and early 19th centuries.
