UW-Superior Recital Series: Steven Siegel and Rachael Kresha

The University of Wisconsin-Superior Music Department presents Associate Professor of Music Steven Siegel, joined by Senior Lecturer Rachael Kresha.

The recital features primarily secular music for trumpet and organ. Audience members can expect to hear a variety of works, ranging from film music, including “Gabriel’s Oboe” from The Mission, to a Bach concerto and more.

Siegel performs on several types of trumpet instruments, including the piccolo trumpet and flugelhorn. Since joining the UW-Superior faculty in fall 2021, he has served as assistant professor of music, director of bands and trumpet instructor. In addition to directing the Symphonic Band and Chamber Winds and teaching applied trumpet lessons, he teaches several music education courses and supervises student teachers. Siegel maintains an active performing schedule in both classical and commercial settings. He has performed with numerous ensembles, including the award-winning Lexington Brass Band, Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra, Amarillo Symphony Orchestra, Lexington Chamber Orchestra, DiMartino/Osland Jazz Orchestra, Bluegrass Area Jazz Ambassadors, Duluth Transit Authority, Heritage Theatre Festival, the Alliance Theatre, and various community and collegiate ensembles. As a soloist, he has performed with the Colorado Brass Band, Lexington Brass Band and Lake City Stinger Band.

Kresha is organist at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Superior and professor of organ at UW-Superior. She earned an Associate of Arts degree from Cottey College, a bachelor’s degree in organ performance from UW-Superior and a master’s degree in organ performance from Emory University. Kresha also received a grant to study at the McGill Organ Summer Academy in Montreal.

An active recitalist, collaborative artist and private studio teacher in the Twin Ports, Kresha has performed internationally as a soloist and with the Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra and Lake Superior Chamber Orchestra.
