Matinee Musicale: Chicago Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet

$40
Sun, Nov 15, 2026 3:00 pm Mitchell Auditorium

Continuing a legacy which began in 1951, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet defines the distinctive and world-renowned “Chicago brass sound.” Recent tours have included sold-out concerts in Japan, China, Taiwan and Mexico. In summer 2024 the quintet made its European festival debut in Ravenna, Italy, followed by master classes and concerts at the Galicia Brass Festival in Spain. In January 2024 the group provided fanfare for an event hosted by France’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs bestowing the “Commander of the Legion of Honor” on Maestro Riccardo Muti. All five members of the quintet are sought after brass pedagogues who hold positions at prestigious universities such as Northwestern, DePaul and Roosevelt.

Adult tickets are $35 in advance at matineemusicale.org, and $40 at the door. Tickets for senior citizens are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. Student admission is free.

Doors open at 2:30 p.m. and after the concert, attendees are invited to meet the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet during a free reception.

Matinee Musicale is a volunteer-run nonprofit organization that has brought world-class chamber music to the Duluth-Superior area since 1900. Its annual concert series focuses on young, rising artists.
