Teen Open Studio
Students ages 13–17 are invited to explore their creativity at the Duluth Art Institute’s Lincoln Park Building during spring sessions of Teen Open Studio. Attendees can bring headphones and creative ideas; art supplies are provided, but students can also bringing their own.
A $50 registration fee covers all 26 sessions, which run from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Sept. 1 to Dec. 1. Attending every session is not necessary.
October Free ArtDAI
The Duluth Art Institute hosts a free ArtDAI four times a year. The events are for all ages and abilities. Each event includes a variety of make-and-take art projects to fit with the season.
In this edition, attendees create essentials for an evening of trick-or-treating: costume pieces, candy bag, autumnal décor and more.
Snacks for the event are provided by Whole Foods Co-op.
Selective Focus: Friends of the Light
An animated projection project called Friends of the Light centers around visual art created by Emily Koch and Tara Austin. Their brush strokes were recorded, animated and enhanced by Daniel Benoit to be displayed at Bayfront Festival Park’s ice rink. The projection display, which skaters can view as they access the warming shelter for free, was organized with the support of the Duluth Public Arts Commission, and Duluth’s City Parks and Recreation Department.
