Students can explore various artistic traditions, techniques and artistic innovations from around the globe during Friday Afternoon Art with Alison Aune. Aune, and University of Minnesota Duluth art and education student helpers, lead the art lessons and guide participants in developing their own artistic creativity by creating artworks. Woodland Animal Sculptures – A Hands-On Air-Dry Clay Workshop Guided by an experienced instructor, Ginger Juel, participants will learn fundamental sculpting techniques, from shaping basic forms to adding expressive details like fur textures, ears and paws. No prior experience is needed, and all materials are provided.

Spirit of the Lake Community Arts

Songs will be taught in the oral tradition by song leader Hella Wartman. No music or lyric sheets will be used and no singing experience is necessary. The songs will be rounds, layer songs, zipper songs and call and response songs from around the world. As a community song circle, all voices are valued and welcome. This song circle is an invitation to experience the joy of singing in a safe space with others. Bring a water bottle.
