Duluth River Train excursions on the Lake Superior & Mississippi Railroad depart at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays until Oct. 18. The two-hour rail journey is a round trip along the St. Louis River estuary. It is a family-friendly, volunteer-run event.

The narrated tour takes passengers along the original Lake Superior & Mississippi line in vintage coaches, sharing the history of the community and its industries.

The train ride can be paired with other outdoor activities along the estuary. The Choo-Choo Paddle Kayak Shuttle is an opportunity to paddle the National Water Trail. Passengers can also bring a bike to hit the scenic Marten Trail before or after the rail journey.
