That’s as close a finish as you can get.
Call it a tie, save for the chips in the shoes.
From a different angle wasn’t that close. It looked dead even on that feed.
Wow, must have sucked for the guy who came in second. To be that close…
According to the DNT, it sounds as though the winner, Christopher Kipyego, stopped about 60 feet short of the finish line, thinking he had finished. Everybody had to yell and him to keep going, and he finished in a dead heat with Teklu Deneke. As much as it must have sucked for Deneke, I think it would have sucked a lot worse for Kipyego if he would’ve lost it.
They had a set of mats for the chip timing just before the actual finish line mats –I assume back-up, in case the finish line mats failed — so I can see how Kipyego could be confused.
Wow, that would have totally sucked if Kipyego had lost because he wasn’t sure where the finish line was. Wish I’d gotten up in time to have seen this one.
