Got “scuzzy??”

Does anyone out there have (or know where I could get) an external SCSI cd rom drive? I’ve been to Roch Bochs, Downtown Computer, and John’s Twin Ports Recycling (WOW). No dice. There must be someone who can help??!?

I’ve got one mothballed somewhere — will look for it tonight. If my memory serves me right, it’s in a crappy homemade external case.

Don’t think I’m being a smart ass but … why?

I recently acquired an Akai 2000XL (MPC). I need to update the OS before I can install a CF card reader… blah blah blah. Tim! I knew I could count on you! Give a shout if you find that. Thanks! bobnzeke @ hotmail.com 218.341.0793

Heck yes… I like your style. I don’t have anything around the house but I’ve been intending to obtain one for some time so depending on your time frame, I could order one tomorrow and would be happy to loan it out upon arrival!

PS, although I don’t have a storefront to visit, if anyone needs anything vintage Mac, chances are I have it or can find it. Formerly the Macintosh Doctor, soon to be “fix|Duluth” (but all stylized and contemporary).

How about a Panasonic KXL-D742? I used to use it for my PB5300 back in the day. It’s got a thin scsi port on the back but I think you can find adaption.I emailed you pics.

Your drive looks great, Baci! However … the rough dimensions of my plug are 2.5″ x .5″. Your drive looks like it takes the smaller SCSI plug. I will look into converters today. Thanks!

Chris Bollman: definitely go ahead and order one. I would love to borrow it if I’m still in a pickle. I had trouble finding anything on eBay that I was 100% on. Good luck, and let me know.

I will look in my junk.

I found my scsi cd rom drive. It takes a ribbon cable, but I’ve got that. I also have the scsi card, too — which you may or may not need. I’m not familiar with how you’re going to use it. In any event, if it will work for your situation, you are welcome to it. I should be around this weekend, I’m in the book.

If all that fails, drop me a line. I will have to go back in my scary storage, but I probably have several different ones, hiding among the Amigas and such.

Hmm. No way to locate me that way, but Baci knows me, if it comes to that. Let’s hope it doesn’t. I also have a myriad of cables.

I just found one. It was in a pile of old parts that I was getting ready to dispose of at work. Not sure if it what you are looking for, but it is an external scsi CD drive. I sent an e-mail to the address you listed above.

    I have one also.
