The Bombay Sweets – First Fridays at Lake Avenue Café
This Friday, Lake Avenue Café plays host to Minneapolis band the Bombay Sweets as part of its First Fridays series.
The duo recently released its debut 7-inch with printing and artwork by former Low bass player Zak Sally. The Bombay Sweets’ lo-fi brand of surfy No Wave and 1950s garage rock may be best summed up in their video “I Don’t Wanna Be Your Soldier Anymore.”

I love the retro-techno-combo-mumbo-jumbo-n(ew)o-wave-surf-sound sound … and the lyrics … and the topless singing head/mouth.
I am not “Low bass player Zak Sally.” I did, however, create the poster art for this event.
Hah, someone had confused me by asking if I drew up the event poster and if I was Zak Sally. I misread this post as well.
