West Duluth Memorial Day Parade

West Duluth Memorial Day Parade 2027

The annual parade along Grand Avenue in West Duluth features marching bands, floats, antique cars, motorcycles and military groups. It is coordinated by Duluth Women of Today.

Parade units line up on 59th Avenue West between Raleigh Street and Grand Avenue beginning at 10:30 a.m. The parade begins at approximately 12:30 p.m.

The parade route runs east on Grand Avenue from 59th Avenue West to Central Avenue, then south on Central Avenue to Ramsey Street, and east on Ramsey Street where it disbands.

Parking is not allowed on either side of Grand Avenue along the parade route. “No parking” signs are posted along this route. Vehicles in violation are tagged and towed. Motorists should be alert to detours and officers directing traffic.

All traffic is detoured off Grand Avenue during the parade between 59th Avenue West and Ramsey Street starting at noon and continuing until the parade ends at approximately 1:30 p.m.

All avenues and exits onto Grand Avenue between 59th Avenue West and Central Avenue are closed during the parade. 59th Avenue West is blocked from Grand Avenue to Raleigh Street for the parade line-up area starting at 10:30 a.m.

DTA buses and other traffic are detoured around the Grand Avenue closure to Central Avenue, Cody Street and 59th Avenue West.

Free entrance days

Free Park Day

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources offers free admission to all 75 Minnesota state parks and recreation areas on four days each year. On Free Park Days the DNR waives the requirement for a vehicle permit to enter state parks and recreation areas. The entrance fee waiver does not cover activities like camping, rentals or tours.

The goal of Free Park Days is to get all Minnesotans outdoors.

Fourth Fest Duluth

Duluth Fourth Fest 2027

Duluth’s annual Independence Day celebration features live music throughout the day, food and craft venders, a bouncy house for kids, and fireworks at 10 p.m.

Gates open at noon. Admission is free and handicap accessible. Attendees are invited to bring their own lawn chairs. No bottles, outside food, coolers, weapons or animals are allowed at Bayfront Park. No unsanctioned fireworks or open flames are allowed in the park — and that includes sparklers. One empty water bottle per patron is permitted. Water stations are located inside the park across from portable restroom units.

Limited parking is available at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center parking ramp, the Great Lakes Aquarium lot and in parking lots on Railroad Street west of Fifth Avenue West.

The Minnesota Slip Bridge (the blue pedestrian bridge between the DECC and Canal Park) is lowered and closed to marine traffic from 8:30 to 11 p.m. The Aerial Lift Bridge stays down and is closed to marine traffic from 7 to 11 p.m. Vessels that are able to pass under the bridge without requiring a lift are permitted to do so. The bridge is lit in red, white and blue colors during the event.
