Frank Kaszuba announced recently on Facebook he is leaving his position as head brewer at Fitger’s Brewhouse. His new employment is with Bev-Craft, a Superior-based consulting firm that helps new breweries by providing “development assistance, brewhouse planning, recipe formulation, ingredient selection, brand creation, and sales planning and assistance.”
Bev-Craft was founded by a group of former key players at the Brewhouse who departed in 2015, including former co-owner Tim Nelson, who sold his share of the Brewhouse’s parent company Just Take Action to his longtime business partner Rod Raymond.
After earning a biology degree at Beloit College, the Chicago native moved to Duluth to pursue a master’s degree in biology. He simultaneously began an apprenticeship at Lake Superior Brewing Company, launching what would become a 20-years-and-counting career in brewing. A year later, Kaszuba followed his passion for brewing to Anchorage, Alaska, where he worked at the Borealis Brewery and later Cusack’s Brewpub. In 1999 he moved back to Duluth and began brewing at Fitger’s Brewhouse. During his stint at the iconic brewpub, he held the positions of shift brewer, lead brewer and eventually head brewer.
Shortly before announcing his departure from the Brewhouse, Kaszuba was featured in the video above, produced by the Duluth Experience.
