Perfect Duluth Day

Postcard from First Methodist Episcopal Church

The written message on the back of this century-old postcard is dated Sept. 9 by “Aunt Martha,” but has no postmark or other indication of the year. The card shows First Methodist Episcopal Church on the corner of Third Avenue West and Third Street in Duluth. The building stood there from 1893 to 1969.

The recipient’s name on the back of the card appears to be Miss Inez Deterf of Faribault. The message on the back of the card reads:

Dear Inez,
You all seem to have forgotten your aunt. You don’t write or even send a postal. Why doesn’t your father write? I hope we can see you all some day soon. I suppose you are going to school again. I will send Florence and Elsie postals next time. With love, Aunt Martha.
