Homegrown Music Festival 2018 Primer

If you’ve been living under a chicken you might not know Duluth’s 20th annual Homegrown Music Festival is upon us. There is a 108-page Homegrown Field Guide available at locations all over town with the details. Updates and peripheral tidbits can be found below.

Seasons 1-5 of Seth Langreck’s Duluth Band Profiles

Admission wristbands are $30 for the full eight days of music, but there are also many free-admission events.

There are 194 bands on the schedule. Numerous things have changed since the Field Guide was published. The online schedule is up to date, but if you are following the Field Guide be aware of the changes noted below.

Sunday
Noon – Children’s Music Showcase at Great Lakes Aquarium (all shows previously scheduled at Duluth Children’s Museum will be held outside the aquarium at the originally scheduled times)

Monday
6:45 p.m. at NorShor Theater mezzanine: Goat Hill Quartet (added to schedule)
9 p.m. at Sir Benedict’s: Raw Space (replacing Amy Hzl)

Tuesday
7 p.m. at Bent Paddle: Beyondbliss (incorrectly listed at 6:30 p.m. in Field Guide)

Friday
9:30 p.m. at Blacklist: Lion or Gazelle (replacing Raw Space)
9 p.m. on DTA Trolley: Al Church (replacing Mel Annala)

Saturday
8 p.m. at Beaner’s: Mel Annala (replacing Lion or Gazelle)
10 p.m. at Pizza Lucé: Amy Hzl (replacing Low Forms)
10:30 p.m. at Blacklist: The Great Unwilling (replacing the Electric Witch)

Also, the DTA Trolley will follow a different route than indicated in the Field Guide due to construction on West Superior Street. It’ll swing up to First Street, but still deliver passengers to R.T. Quinlan’s via Michigan St. Don’t panic.

The hashtag for this year is #hgmf18. The same hashtag applies for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.

The Homegrown Chicken Shack is at 20 W. First St. this year. The hours of operation are 4 to 8:30 p.m. throughout festival week.

KUMD 103.3 FM will hold its usual “Live from Studio A” sessions with Homegrown bands. Here’s the schedule:
