Perfect Duluth Day

Postcard from the Hotel Duluth in 1942

This postcard was mailed 80 years ago today — May 12, 1942. The recipient was Constance Jarvis of Riverside, Calif. Ray Boyer sent it from Duluth.

The caption on the back of the card reads:

In Duluth, Minnesota, the air conditioned city on beautiful Lake Superior, stop at the Hotel Duluth, the Arrowhead region’s leading and most modern and up to day hotel — 400 rooms with bath — Coffee Shop, Grill, Cocktail Lounge — Golf and Tennis.

The written message reads:

Am almost in the land of the midnight sun. Duluth is quite interesting what with all of the ships and ore docks. Have to wear an overcoat. Howz everything?
