Perfect Duluth Day

Happy 17th birthday to us

There are free birthday cupcakes at Wussow’s drive-through from 5:10 to 6:30 p.m. (or until they are gone) tonight, June 29, in celebration of Perfect Duluth Day’s anniversary!

It’s been 17 years since the first post was published on Perfect Duluth Day. Each year since then, we’ve held some form of birthday party on June 29 — from screening The Big Lebowski on the sailboat sculpture at Gateway Park in 2004 to a patio party at Ursa Minor Brewing in 2019 with Perfect Duluth Day NE IPA on tap.

This year we’re dialing back the hugs and revelry a bit due to COVID-19. Our birthday party is a drive-through affair at Wussow’s Concert Cafe in West Duluth. As you probably know, Wussow’s has been offering service through it’s window in the parking lot on the south side of its building during the pandemic.

Whether you choose to purchase dinner at the drive-though or not, there’s a free cupcake waiting for you, while supplies last. Will there be any bozos from PDD’s staff hanging out in the parking lot to wish you a perfect Duluth day from six feet away? Maybe. Maybe not. Depends on how inspired we are in that moment.

Baker Tina Higgins Wussow says the cupcakes are “lemon with a hint of rose.” Thanks Tina!
