Released today: The music video for Duluth native Al Church’s song “Night Games.” It’s the title track to Church’s next album, scheduled for release April 27.
The video was directed by Maya Khaira, who writes in the description that when Church first played the song for her it took her back to middle school, “running through the darkened backyards” of her neighborhood in the late 1980s and early ’90s.
“The title track is inspired by Church’s childhood memories of his Duluth neighborhood,” she writes, “where dozens of kids gathered after dark to play games that crisscrossed backyards, trails, and fields. No parents. No cellphones.”
