Perfect Duluth Day

Local History Resources

I’m noticing a number of local history queries here. Don’t forget these local history resources:

Duluth Public Library
The Reference Desk maintains a cool local history blog,
and a Duluth Collection in a special room — great to write in!
… and historical Duluth newspaper access, which has a good amount of material, for example, on Whole Foods:

03/31/1993 D08 Photo / Whole Foods Coop / Setting up Shop
04/06/1989 C01 Organic Food Growing in Popularity / Whole Foods

There are bits about Whole Foods in the Regional Magazine database that the library maintains, as well.

On the UMD campus, there’s the Northeast Minnesota Historical Center.

For visual resources, nothing beats Minnesota Reflections … part of the Minnesota Digital Library.

There’s an amazing amount of stuff at the MHS website.

And the Douglas County and Superior public libraries maintain genealogy resources of value to the reporter!

Barrett and Paul, I’m betting you could write a book about conducting local history research. What have I missed?
