Perfect Duluth Day

Duluth Central High School aerial demolition video

The former Duluth Central High School on the top of the hill was demolished at the end of November. The video above is by Doug Johnson.

Chester Creek View, a New York-based development company, purchased 55 of the 77 acres at 800 E. Central Entrance in August for $8 million. The Duluth school district still owns 22 acres on the site, which will serve as a new district headquarters, bus garage and operations base for facilities and maintenance workers.

The hilltop Central High School opened in 1971, replacing the iconic structure on Lake Avenue and Third Street that still stands. The hilltop Central closed at the end of the 2010-’11 school year as the school district consolidated into two high schools — East and Denfeld.
