As usual, the ballot in this year’s General Election is not the same for everyone in Duluth. People who live on the western side of town will see the District 3 County Commissioner race shown above. Those on the east side of Duluth will instead see Patrick Boyle running unopposed in District 2. People in the center of the city will not see a County Commissioner race because District 1 Commissioner Frank Jewell is not up for reelection.
Voters in central and western Duluth neighborhoods will see the District 7B Minnesota State Representative race shown on the ballot above. Those in the northern portions of the Duluth Heights and Kenwood neighborhoods will see the District 3B Minnesota State Representative race between Republican Andrew J. Hjelle the Democratic-Farmer-Labor incumbent Mary Murphy. Voters on the eastern side of Duluth will see the District 7A Minnesota State Representative race between Republican Tom Sullivan and Democratic-Farmer-Labor incumbent Jennifer Schultz.
And don’t forget the judicial races are on the back side.
The General Election will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Early voting began Sept. 18. Due to COVID-19, the public is encouraged to vote by mail. Visit mnvotes.org to submit an absentee ballot request or visit duluthmn.gov/city-clerk. Voters are encouraged to request an absentee ballot as soon as possible to ensure timely delivery. A witness is not required for 2020 General Election ballots of registered voters. Non-registered voters must have a witness.
Voters are encouraged to mail return ballots by Oct. 26 to ensure return delivery. Ballots postmarked on or before Nov. 3 will be accepted until the close of business on Nov. 10.
Voters can also deliver their ballot to Duluth City Hall. A secure drive-up ballot drop box is available for Duluth voters at the Second Street parking lot adjacent to City Hall. The drop box can be accessed by entering the parking lot one way from Second Street. The drop box is monitored 24/7 by security camera.
Voters can hand deliver their ballot to a ballot box located within Duluth City Hall during in-person early voting hours, entering from Priley Circle.

Duluth voters can vote early in person at Duluth City Hall with no appointment needed. Stay-safe protocols are in place at City Hall and masks are available for voters. Hours for early voting are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday. Extended hours from Oct. 27-31 are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The final day to vote in person at City Hall is Nov. 2 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
