Perfect Duluth Day

Postcard from Two Harbors, where the trout bite

Sure, it’s a cute little piece of art, but the verse on the backside of this undated postcard puts it over the top.

Behold the Fisherman
He riseth up early in the morning
and disturbeth the whole household,
mighty are his preparations.
He goeth forth full of hopes;
When the day is far spent he returneth,
smelling of strong drink;
and the truth be not in him.

The origin of this poem is unknown, but it appears on other old postcards and on various wall plaques and specialty plates, with varying punctuation and phrasing, but always basically the same.
