Jay Sonnenburg found this photo in his grandfather’s collection. It shows Denfeld High School under construction on the lower edge, which puts the year of the image around 1926. The groundbreaking ceremony for the building was held March 6, 1925; it opened for classes on Sept. 8, 1926.
Below is another image from the construction, which previously appeared on PDD in 2009, when the school’s smokestack was removed. The image comes from Tim Utt, whose grandfather worked on its construction. It shows workers on top of the smokestack with the rest of the building far from complete.
