Perfect Duluth Day

The Dark Web Movie

This post is from a Texas friend:

Back in 2013 I posted [somewhere else, not on Perfect Duluth Day] about the arrest of my nephew Ross Ulbricht for allegedly running Silk Road. I remember many on this forum [another forum, not PDD] jumped to condemn him and still might hold the same view. FYI: He admitted to creating it as a free-market experiment, but that is all, as he left it to do other things (and I have reason to believe him). The murder-for-hire claim was a story to drive public opinion and he was never charged with it.

Actually two U.S. agents are in jail now for their part in the site, embezzling funds (another story) — and one of them fabricated the story of murder.
Still the rumors persist.

Since 2013, I’ve been horrified at the misrepresentation (can we say lies?) that still surround this case, which journalists repeat. I was at the trial in February and witnessed a federal judge lie, suppress evidence, and block witnesses. Same with the prosecutor (but I expected that). Stunning.

Ross was just sentenced to life in prison with no parole. This will be appealed because of the blatant trampling on what should have been a fair trial. In the meantime, just know that our “justice” system is not what you think it is (or I thought).

Tonight is the release of an award-winning documentary that has been the best at telling the story (not perfect). Of course there are other ways to get the information (freeross.org) but you might want to catch this tonight if you are interested at all. The case has implications going forward in the digital age re: digital law, privacy, NSA data gathering, etc. — the list goes on. The family does not gain financially from this film. I am posting this to build support — (sorry to go on, but it is important).
