Earth Hour will be coming back to the Duluth area this March! From 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. on March 27 the World Wildlife Fund asks individuals and businesses to turn off their lights for the hour. Nearly one billion people from 87 countries participated in Earth Hour last year!We realize that turning off your lights for an hour will not reduce energy usage enough to make a significant difference, rather, the hour of darkness is used as a symbol for our belief in the importance of climate change.
This year participants include the University of MN Duluth along with local businesses: The Chester Creek Cafe, The Brewhouse, and Trailfitters. Also, Mayor Don Ness will be leading the city of Duluth in participation by having the lights to the Aerial Lift Bridge turned off for the hour!

As you can see from their website previous participants include: The Empire State Building, the Las Vegas Strip, Christ the Redeemer Statue in Rio De Janeiro, the Sydney Opera House, and even the Google webpage. We are excited to include Duluth’s very own Aerial Lift Bridge to the list of landmarks!
