Perfect Duluth Day

Not exactly Bigfoot prints, but …

This trail struck me a little strange.  I’m referring to the roughly 20-inch-wide path that’s been cleared in the middle. As if tracking some strange beast, I’m trying to figure out what cleared that path.

* It’s wide enough to be a snowmobile mark, but the snow isn’t smoshed and there’s no ripple.

* It doesn’t look like a snowblower did this, because the snow has been displaced into little banks instead of thrown in a wide mist.

* It looks very much like the work of a push shovel, except there doesn’t seem to be any spots where the snow built up in front of the shovel and needed to be tossed. Also, this goes on for at least half a mile, so it’s unlikely someone decided to shovel an old railroad route turned recreational trail for such a distance.

So, there it is, PDD scientists. Provide your theories.
