Following the program, a traditional Haitian meal of chicken with jerk sauce, sweet potatoes with papaya and mango salsa, grilled pineapples with mango salsa, and tropical fruit salad with ice cream will be served.

The event will also include a live dessert auction, a silent auction to bid on two cooking classes with renowned Duluth chefs, a Musical Marketplace to donate money to buy instruments, music stands, or a teacher’s salary for one month, and a homemade baked goods sale.

This event is free, however a free-will offering will be encouraged.  Funds collected will support the Kako Foundation  providing funding for at risk students to study music and enabling them to reach their fullest potential.

The Kako Foundation was founded three years ago after Rudy Perrault’s 16-year-old cousin, Kako, was brutally kidnapped and murdered in Haiti after a ransom was given.  Kako played the trumpet and loved music so much that his friends all started to play instruments too.

In honor of Kako’s love for music, the Kako Foundation provides funding for instruments, music and to support the teachers to provide FREE music lessons to the students in Haiti.  After the recent earthquake, when the schools were closed the Kako Foundation fed children and kept them safe. This program is growing tremendously!
